Hey Church, our word for this week comes to us from James 3:5,10
“The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It can corrupt the whole body and sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and itself can be set on fire by hell. Out of the same month can come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”
I want to talk to you a little today about our tongues (words) and how we should use them. The apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:29
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
Our talk (words) is either constructive or they are destructive, there’s no middle ground, our words are either a tool for God or a tool for the enemy (devil). I want to encourage and remind you (and mostly me) to choose your words wisely as you deal with and relate to people in your life each day. Someone once said if you can’t say something good about or to someone don’t say anything at all. Remember, God loves us all (even those difficult people we all have in our lives) so much that he sent his son to die for us all. Be that bright spot, the encourager in someone’s life today. As it says in Hebrew 10:25
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds… but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day (second coming) approaching.”
God Bless
